MADAGASCAR, 2018

I CAN'T LIE A PART OF ME WANTED TO NOT PUT THESE IMAGES UP BUT HONESTLY THIS TRIP WAS TOO BEAUTIFUL TO NOT BE SHARED.

IT'S NOT WITH EVERY TRIP I CAN SAY IT FELT LIKE HOME, BUT THIS ONE DEFO DID.

IT'S NICE TO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH, IT'S NICE TO FORGET ABOUT YOUR TROUBLES WHILST YOU ISLAND HOP, DEEP DIVE AND VISIT THE VILLAGE LEMURS AND CAROLINA THE TORTOISE.

BEING EMBRACED BY PEOPLE THAT LOOKED LIKE ME, LITTLE BLACK BABIES SPENDING THEIR WHOLE DAY IN THE WATER AND ONLY GETTING OUT TO ANNOY A PASSERBY.

IT WAS NICE TO NOT BE TREATED OR EVEN MISTAKEN AS A TOURIST BUT AS IF YOU ALREADY BELONGED THERE. SPEAKING FRENCH THIS WHOLE TRIP WASN'T ALL THAT BAD, IT FELT LIKE I WAS SPEAKING TO A RELATIVE ON THE PHONE, IT WAS LIKE A SECRET LANGUAGE BETWEEN ME AND WHOEVER CAME TO TALK TO ME. FROM 'Laisse moi te payer une boisson!' AT 3AM, TO "Qui sont ces gens blancs?" TO TAKING DIFFERENT SHOTS OF INFUSED RUM WITH THE BAR STAFF AND BONDING OVER OUR LOVE OF RUM.

WHAT A WAY TO END 2018.

I LEFT A PIECE OF MY HEART IN MADAGASCAR FOR SURE.
